Asked for a non alcoholic drink while at a restaurant in Bellagio Italy. Waiter suggested Crodino. I was hooked. Fortunately I found this delicious aperitif online at Supermarket Italy.

Discovered Crodino while in Venice, thanks to a bar tender who offered it when I asked for "something non-alcoholic." Great appertif and very beguiling bitter/sweet taste that acts as a pick-me-up any time of the day. Not widely available here in US, probably because few have tried it. Supermarket Italy has best price I've seen anywhere so far.

Memories of Southern Italy

I first came across Crodino when I was stationed in southeastern Italy near Brindisi while I served in the Air Force. My first experience with aperitifs was not pleasant. I had tried Campari and it was so bitter I couldn't finish it. Later though, a friend suggested I try Crodino because it was much lighter, sweeter and more refreshing. I was hooked on it immediately. The first sip was slightly bitter on the back of the tongue, but each sip afterwards was sweet and citrusy.
I was heartbroken when I returned to the States and couldn't find it anywhere. 35 years later, this past Spring, My son and I went to Rome and Sorrento and when I saw Crodino in one of the bars it was like seeing a long lost lover. With the advent of the Internet, I was certain that by now you must be able to find it in the States, so when we returned one of the first things I did was search for it and I found 2 places that sold it. 1 was ridiculously priced and the other was Supermarket Italy. I've been ordering Crodino from them ever since.
